TEACHER JUDGES IN BELLFLOWER, CA
From July 29-August 2 Mr. Van Lierop judged piano students for the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Ardes Abad was the chairperson for this event held at his music school-Arts Development School of Music. What made this event so interesting for Mr. Van Lierop was the fact that the majority of the piano players were of varied ethnic backgrounds. Several of the pupils played either folk music or classical pieces from their country. This made for an enriching experience. Music is indeed a universal language. While there Mr. Van Lierop did some sightseeing-Huntington Beach, Knot's Berry Farm, Crystal Cathedral.
TIMOTHY LOCKE'S PRESIDENT'S CUP
The West Seattle Herald featured an article on their website on July 7, 2010 regarding Timothy Locke's receiving the President's Cup through the National Federation of Music Clubs. FINAL RECITALS
The Final Recitals took place the weekend following the Guild Auditions. The Guild Adjudicator was Karen Webster from Rochester, New York. The recital on Sunday, June 20 honored the two high school graduates, Cooper Sinai/Yunker and Timothy Locke who both earned their High School Diplomas in Music. On Monday Night, June 21, there was an enjoyable hot dog meal preceding the 7:00PM Recital. At the recital students played pieces from their Guild programs. The recital concluded with the the giving out of Theory Awards, Gold Cups and Guild Certificates.

Timothy Locke's Youtube Performance of the Grieg Piano Concerto
On April 22, Thursday, 2010, Timothy Locke, piano student of John Van Lierop, Jr., played the 3rd Movement of the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Garfield High School Concert Orchestra.
